Binary star
A system of two stars orbiting a shared center of mass, bound by gravity.
Binary stars
Many stars are not alone. In a binary, two stars orbit each other. Companions can exchange mass, shape stellar winds, and change how a star ends its life.
Finding a faint companion next to a bright giant is hard because the primary can drown the secondary in glare.
